Artisan Painters & Decorators
We are a small painting and decorating business and have operated for around 20 years along the A3 corridor from London to Portsmouth. We specialise in providing the highest quality finishes to interior and exterior surfaces for listed and other heritage properties, as well as high quality, modern homes. The business has been built up primarily through personal recommendation and we have not historically needed to advertise our services. We have a simple product range: painting and decorating to the highest possible standards and we do not compromise our service by trying to accommodate multiple other services.
We operate a “no stone left unturned policy”. We believe it is better to highlight damaged or faulty workmanship, rather than simply cover it up with paint and filler. Perhaps surprisingly, this approach has not just served our heritage-property owning customers well, as highlighting defects is an important part of the conservation process: it has also helped our new-construction clientele identify snagging problems that can be quickly rectified while other trades are still on site. With Steve Lively, you know that your team won’t be expending materials that you have paid for on problem joinery or damp stricken plaster, painting shut old sash windows that now fail to operate properly, or generally operating a “get the job finished as quickly as possible” policy. Only the best, fully trained decorating specialists are employed by Steve Lively and advice on materials, colours and appropriateness of decoration for the period or type of property are part of the service, although this does not run to advice on interior design.
Our Client Base
Our customers are typically people who own their own homes within a 15 mile radius of the A3 corridor from Portsmouth to London (and suburbs). You have taken on a “labour of love” period property, or maintenance of your luxury modern home or plush apartment is something that you are too busy to fit around a hectic work and home life. You are not excited at the prospect of spending a few weekends working a paintbrush around 200 year old “egg and dart” plaster cornicing, and you are the kind of person who just won’t be satisfied by those paint runs all down the newly installed joinery you have just taken two days off work to decorate yourself!
